Bolts Car Hire is a family business, owned by Arlene and John Garriock. With the help of their family they strive to provide the best possible service and transport solutions for visitors of all kinds.

Their main office is on North Road, Lerwick, within easy walking distance of the town centre and the NorthLink Ferry Terminal. Though pick up and drop off can easily be arranged to best suit your needs and travel arrangements. Their friendly staff are on hand to help with any enquiries you may have. Just around the corner from the main office they have their own fuel pumps and full garage facilities where they service and maintain the fleet of vehicles regularly to keep them running smoothly and to meet exemplary standards for cleanliness.

SUMBURGH AIRPORT

Sumburgh is Shetland's main airport and is situated at the southern tip of the mainland, 25 miles from Lerwick. Bolts Car Hire maintain a fully staffed office and fuel refilling facility at Sumburgh Airport. Their car hire office at Sumburgh Airport is open seven days a week for all scheduled and most charter flights. Just let them know your flight number and arrival time.

LERWICK FERRY TERMINAL

Northlink run a daily ferry service between Lerwick and Aberdeen, with a connection to Orkney selected sailings. Book your car and a member of Bolts Car Hire staff will be waiting for you at the terminal. Their desk is situated on the ground floor inside the terminal building and is staffed for for those with prior reservations, between 08:00 and 08:30 when you disembark from the ferry.

TINGWALL AIRPORT

This is the airport used for inter-island flights within Shetland. The Shetland Islands Council offer Dial-A-Ride transport to and from the airport for a small fee. Telephone before you fly and the team at Bolts Car Hire will arrange to have you collected and taken into their main office in Lerwick where you can collect your car. You can also leave your car at the airport when you fly from here.

CRUISE SHIPS

Cruise ships visit Lerwick throughout the summer. Bots Car Hire can arrange to meet you on the quay, so that you can get away to enjoy your time in Shetland as soon as you get ashore. You can also leave your car back on the quay when you return from an action packed day of exploring Shetland.

MOTORHOME HIRE

Their 4 berth motorhomes are the perfect to way to explore Shetland and really experience some of the remoter areas of the islands. These are great for the carefree adventurer who wants to be free to stop off where the mood takes them and get the most out of our long summer days.
